What are truck bearings used for?

2024-11-14

Truck bearings are mainly used to support and reduce friction to ensure that all parts of the truck can operate smoothly. ‌

Specific applications and functions of bearings on trucks ‌

Powertrain part: ‌

Thrust bearing in turbocharger ‌: used to support the rotation of turbocharger and reduce friction. ‌

Crankshaft bearing and connecting rod bearing ‌: These sliding bearings support the crankshaft and connecting rod of the engine to ensure stable operation of the engine. ‌

Clutch release bearing ‌: installed between the clutch and the transmission, the return spring makes the boss of the release bearing always press against the release fork to achieve smooth operation of the clutch. ‌

Transmission system part: ‌

Wheel hub bearing ‌: usually a split two-disc radial thrust roller bearing is used to bear axial and radial loads to ensure stable rotation of the wheel hub. ‌

Needle bearing on cross drive shaft ‌: ball-type connection is used to realize power transmission of different shafts and bear the huge axial force inside the main reducer. ‌

Other parts: ‌

Air conditioning compressor bearing ‌: supports the operation of the air conditioning compressor and reduces friction and wear. ‌

‌Rolling bearings and sliding bearings in the steering system‌: Support the rotation of the steering gear to ensure smooth steering operation‌.

Bearing maintenance and care methods

In order to ensure the normal operation of the bearing and extend its service life, regular inspection and maintenance are required:

‌Check the use status of the bearing‌: Observe whether there is any abnormal noise or local temperature rise.

‌Regularly change the lubricant‌: According to the use status of the vehicle, change the lubricant at least once every six months and carefully check the bearing‌.

‌Cleaning and checking the bearing‌: The disassembled bearing should be cleaned with kerosene or gasoline, and observe whether the inner and outer cylindrical surfaces are sliding or creeping, and whether the raceway surface is peeling or pitting‌.
